Kitutu Chache South residents have started voting to choose their Member of parliament.
A spot check showed local voters who were armed with their national identity cards and passports started streaming into polling stations as early as 6 am on Tuesday.
In most of the polling stations, the government beefed up security to ensure the exercise goes on swiftly.
A total of eight participants are competing for the seat.
