Mavoko Sub County administrator Moses Muthusi said the Machakos County government will not allow for breach of peace in the region.

"We at the county government's leadership will not allow for a few individuals to cause unnecessary tension and confusion in this county," said Muthusi.

Muthusi said the demonstrations if allowed to take place would lead to disruption of peace, destruction of property and violation of innocent residents' fundamental rights.

According to the administrator, there was no need of the protests arguing that all the casual workers who had downed their tools for delayed payments of their three months wages had been paid.

He said the sub county had requested for reinforcement of security personnel in the region especially in Athi River and major towns such as Mlolongo and Chumvi to maintain peace in the region.

Muthusi disclosed that vehicles from other police stations within Eastern Region such as Tala, Yata, Matuu among other police stations had been borrowed to enable Athi River Police officers commute and work effectively as they keep vigilance in areas they had been deployed.

He however said that only police officers from the sub county were involved in the operations since the situation was manageable.

The workers are demonstrating over their delayed salaries which they say have been accumulated since October last year.
