The festival which started yesterday has attacked a large number of participants compared last year’s event which was held in Mombasa.

Speaking to the press at Menengai High School, Kipsang said that proper security mechanisms have already been put in place to guarantee the safety of the students and the residents of Nakuru.

"I strongly emphasise the government's commitment when it comes to ensuring that all the participants' safety is guaranteed. I take this opportunity to tell the people who are participating to stop worrying since the government has already beefed up security in the area," Kipsang said.

The PS urged all the teachers to ensure that they operate within the set stipulated time in their programmes.

"I kindly urge the teachers to ensure that their students carry out their student IDs or National IDs at all times and places," Kipsang said.

Kipsang was accompanied by the chairman of the National Drama Festivals Chokera Kahura and Sirengo Khaemba, the Executive Secretary.

He urged the people of Nakuru to report any cases of unusual behaviours in the town.

The 10-day event is being hosted at Lion Primary school, Menengai High School, Lohana Hall, Afraha High School and Melvin Jones.

It brings together different schools and colleges in the country to celebrate cultural diversity in the country.
