A contingent of police officers has been deployed at the troubled Muhoroni-Kericho border following the killing of an old man over the weekend.
Nyanza regional police coordinator Leonard Katana said calm is slowly returning in the area but officers will still keep watch.
Katana lauded politicians who took the intervention to tour the area and calm down the people.
“I want to congratulate our politicians for the bold step they took to visit the area and talk to their people to live in harmony,” said Katana.
However, the killing took place after Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o and his Kericho counterpart Prof Paul Chepkwony toured the area.
Katana said the officers will monitor the situation and called for more interventions to end the skirmishes.
“This is my humble request to other stakeholders in the area, come out and let us work together to find in the area. Let us not sit back and watch,” he said.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu, the regional police coordinator said they are working closely with their Kericho counterparts to ensure peace prevail along the border.
He announced that if need be then more police officers will be deployed along the border.
Katana assured the communities living along the border of heightened security.
