Security in Magarini sub-county has been beefed up following cases of Al-Shabaab attacks reported in the neighboring counties of Tana River and Lamu.

Magarini deputy county commissioner Samuel Lokorio confirmed that police have been deployed at the border points to check on cases of suspected Al-Shabaab invading the area.

The administrator assured that security team is taking measures to ensure peaceful electioneering period before, during and after the August 8 polls.

He warned all political leaders vying for different political positions in the sub- county not to engage youths to cause violence at political rallies.

He appealed to the aspirants to conduct campaigns in a peaceful manner.

Lokorio said harmony amongst all people in the area is important.
