The  government has put in place adequate multi-agency security measures in clash prone Tana River County in the run up to the August 8 general elections, Tana River County Commissioner Oningoi Ole Sosio has said.

Speaking at Hola hotel on Monday, Oningoi re-affirmed that security units have been deployed in the area to ensure peace and security prevail before, during and after the elections.

“The government has deployed various security units to deal with any threat to security in the county,” he told KNA on Monday.

His remarks comes after police recently gunned down 3 suspected Al Shabaab militia in Wayu area, Galole constituency.

Oningoi called on the leaders contesting for various political seats to ensure peace is maintained between the various communities living in the county.
