Solvit Security Solutions Limited, a company that provides security at the Nyali Center in Mombasa where a banker was killed last week, has defended the night guards involved in the murder of David Kamau Wokabi.
According to a statement from the company on Monday, Wokabi attacked the guards with a sword after one of the guards had confronted him while relieving himself at the Mall’s parking lot.
The story of the murder of the Stanbic bank Nyali branch employee continues to grab the headlines days after the 35-year-old died.
According to one of the security guards, Saidi Mwamuye, who found Wokabi urinating, Wokabi hurled insults and cursed him. Mwanyume testified, in a statement published in one of the local dailies, that Wokabi rushed to his car and unleashed a sword.
“David rushed to his car and came back wielding a sword which he used to attack the guard, inflicting a cut in the hand of the security guard while chasing after him,” reads the statement.
According to the statement, Wokabi got out of control when the other four guards intervene to control Wokabi, who had already injured Mwamuye with his sword, but he remained arrogant. That’s when all hell broke lose triggering a beating from the guards.
“The CCTV clips eventually capture members of the public gathering around the gate but they do not attack our guards as it is clear that David was the aggressor in this case,” adds the statement.
