The government has beefed up security for all IEBC officials ahead of the October 17 presidential elections.
This is according to Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Security for the electoral agency's commissioners and senior officials has been beefed up ahead of the October 17 election.
Matiang'i said that the concerned agencies have prepared a 'national security plan' so as to secure the election.
He insisted that security for the IEBC team is now a top priority for the State.
"We are carrying out major security preparedness in all regions. All commissioners and senior IEBC officials have been given adequate security," he said in Mombasa on Thursday.
Matiangi added that politicians caught inciting Kenyans will be arrested and prosecuted.
“We promised that the August 8 election would be secured and we delivered. We assure Kenyans that we are ready to do the same on October 17,” he said.
