Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has assured that security will be beefed up ahead of the ‘Macha’ New Year Eve concert to be held at the Machakos Peoples Park.

The event will run for three days starting on December 31 to January 2.

Speaking when he toured Mavoko Sub County over the weekend, Mutua said that adequate security measures have been put in place. He said that county security personnel, the national government and the organisers have put in place appropriate mechanisms to guarantee safety.

“We want to welcome Kenyans to celebrate with us as we welcome the year 2015 in style at Machakos Peoples Park,” said Mutua.

The governor said that the concert is meant to bring Kenyans of all ages and tribes together adding that more such concerts will be organised in 2015.

He stated that Machakos is a peace loving county and that it will support all initiatives meant to encourage harmony among Kenyans.

The governor asked leaders across the country to be ambassadors of peace saying that Kenya is a diverse country.

He indicated that time has come for leaders to take their roles seriously and work for the common Kenyans.

Governor Mutua urged Machakos people to embrace unity saying that the county is working towards promoting development across the county.
