A security guard and his cousin who is a mechanic were on Thursday arraigned in a Nakuru court and charged with stealing car spare parts from motorists at a parking yard in Gilgil town. Robert Masheti, 47, and his cousin Meshack Masheti, 40, were accused of plotting to steal car spare parts belonging to several clients of Bawani Supermarket and Bawani Engineering Services on diverse dates of December 2014 and early this year. The prosecution told Nakuru chief resident magistrate Felix Kombo that following complaints by several clients of the company, the management instructed the its chief security officer James Mutinda to investigate the incidents and report back. Upon investigations, several car spare parts that had been reported missing were found at a garage in Gilgil town. The court heard that Meshack was suspected to have colluded in the stealing of the car spare parts and was arrested by police from Gilgil police station on January 10 together with Robert for being in possession of stolen goods. The two denied the charge and each was released on a Sh50,000 bond. The trial starts on February 17.
