A security guard has been arraigned before a Mombasa Court to answer to charges of stealing money from an insurance firm
The accused, Mr Khamis Mwanundu, was accused of allegedly stealing Sh30,000 from Metropolitan Insurance Company at Ganjoni in Mombasa County.
The prosecution told the court that Mr Mwanundu allegedly broke into the firm’s office and stole the money, when he was on duty.
Mr Mwanundu is also facing a second charge of failing to prevent a robbery.
The accused person however pleaded not guilty to the charges before the court and asked to be released on a reasonable bail term pending the next case hearing.
Mombasa Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti granted the bail application and ordered for the accused to be released on a Sh20,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on September 9.
