The government has deployed a heavy contingent of anti-riot police officers in the Nairobi CBD ahead of the Supreme Court Verdict on the presidential petition.
Police have barricaded roads around the Supreme Court while more officers have been deployed to man major slum areas in the city.
Trucks of anti-riot police have been witnessed in Kibera, Kayole, Dandora, Kariobangi, Mathare, and Kawangware among other areas.
The heavy deployment comes after Sunday's clashes that saw five people murdered at Riverside, Ruaraka constituency.
Over the Riverside deaths, Nairobi police spokesperson Japhet Koome said they were a criminal act and had not been an ethnically instigated crime.
