Ahead of the IAAF World Under 18 Championship at Kasarani, security measures have been put in place to ensure the official opening ceremony is flawless.
The surprise special guest has raised a lot of anticipation and rumor has it that the special guest is indeed none other than President Uhuru Kenyatta who is expected to attend Thursday morning.
The event is hosting over 1,500 athletes from 130 countries and it will conclude July 16. As hosts Kenya has produced around 60 athletes to take place in the competition.
CEO Mwangi Muthe of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) has expressed his confidence in the country’s ability to host the completion flawlessly.
There are over 1,000 security staff that have been recruited to maintain harmony around the stadium.
Muthee further mentioned that the Championships will be a way of honouring the late Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery.
"It was because of Nkaissery’s supervision efforts, that the pace of work at the two venues picked up from well behind schedule and in the last three months since the country won the hosting bid over two years ago and were transformed to functional status barely in time for the championships starting next Wednesday," Muthee added as reported by The Star.
