The MP who was speaking on Wednesday in Ngoingwa estate in the outskirt of Thika town said that the security agencies are people and human like us and thus they should be given guns and be trained to protect the lives of the people as well.

“The security guards are human like us, they work in very dangerous positions and thus they are allowed to protect not only us but themselves as well,” she argued

The legislator expressed her concerns with the security officers in Garissa who were the first people to be killed during the attack which she said it broke her heart for the officers to die without defending themselves.

She said that probably if the security officers were armed, many lives would have been saved and Kenyans would not be in a mourning state at the moment.

Ng’ang’a said that she will ensure the motion is tabled in the parliament and urged her counterparts to support the motion since the security of Kenya is at stake.

“I urge other MPs to join hands and allow the security guards to be trained and given guns to protect us not only in public places but institutions and home as well,” said Ng’ang’a

The MP however urged residents to be calmer and wait for the government to work on the security matter calling for leaders to unite in time of grief.

She challenged the national government to conduct a national healing to ensure and reassure Kenyans of safer security in public places to help our economy which is fading away.
