Security officials in Likoni have been ordered to take stern action against notorious criminal gangs terrorizing residents and visitors in the Coast region.Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki gave the security team a three-months ultimatum to get rid of all outlawed criminal gangs in the constituency.Achoki said the security agencies will deal mercilessly with the gangs that are terrorizing and assaulting residents adding that police will conduct crackdowns on their hideouts.Speaking on Wednesday at Celtel area in Likoni, which is said to be a hideout for dangerous outlawed criminal gangs such as Wakali kwanza and Watalia, Achoki directed chiefs to play a vital role during the exercise since they are closest to the people.He said the chiefs and their assistants risk losing their jobs if the gangs and drug barons are not dealt with within the next three months.“I will deploy security in civilian who will be pushing handcarts, some will be roasting maize both men and women to back up other security officers so that we deal with this menace,” said Achoki“If they [criminal gangs] will not surrender in the next three months, we will deal with them in the language they understand without specifying the language,” he added, as quoted by Baraka FM.Achoki also warned parents harboring criminal gangs saying most of the crude weapons used by the suspects are hidden in their parents’ homes.“The sub county security team will now ransack the homes of the suspects, if there will be any crude weapons found in the houses, it is upon you parents to choose whom will be arrested between the father and the mother,” said the county commissioner.Likoni police chief Benjamin Rotich, Likoni deputy county commissioner Erick Mulevu and DCI boss Henry Ndombi were present during the meeting.
