Internal Security Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho on Tuesday stepped in Kisii County to ensure that all illicit brew dens are destroyed.
According to Kibicho, the area has been hitting headlines in the past few weeks for increased illicit brews and there was need for him to ensure that all the dens are destroyed and those who are responsible arrested.
He was a accompanied by NACADA officials and administrators from Kisii County when they visted Tabaka Sub county where they destroyed over 3,000 liters of illicit alcohol and more than 20 people arrested.
“All arrested have been in the forefront in ensuring the illicit brew is still in place and that is against the will of the government and the residents,” he added.
He added that according to intelligence sources, the merchants have infiltrated security agencies leading the crackdown to counter police moves meant to destroy their multi-million brewing industries spread.
A visibly angry Kibicho took a swipe at the security officers, including Kisii County Commissioner (CC), for doing little to avert the illegal brewing dens that have sprung up along the rivers under their watch.
