According to a statement released by North Eastern Regional Coordinator Ambassador Mohamud Sale, the weapons which included a fully loaded suicide bomber jacket, a hand grenade, 210 rounds of ammunitions, AK 47 riffles and a few IEDs were uncovered by a local resident.

"A member of the public stumbled upon the weapons that were buried underground in a plastic container during heavy rains that have been pounding the area,” Sale said.

He further added that the discovery is the third of such kind, and owe it to good co-existence between the security apparatus in the region and local residents.

“The discovery of the arsenal is a major breakthrough in our fight against terrorism. With the help of members of the public we have been able to pre-empt several attacks and recovered weapons that could have caused mass destructions,” added Saleh.
