Police were deployed at the IEBC office ahead of the planned protest by the Cord leaders and their supporters on Monday.
A contingent of police were send to man the Anniversary Towers where the IEBC office is stationed.
Cord had threatened to storm the office on Monday over the Okoa Kenya signatures.
According to the coalition, the IEBC should review the 300,000 signatures which the coalition claims were rejected unlawfully.
The police officers had been cautioned not to allow any protesters near the premises. The police also called on the organisers of the protest, Cord to cancel the protest and seek alternative means of solving the matter.
The Cord coalition also targets to force the electoral body commissioners out of office ahead of the next general election.
‘We urge the planners of this protest to cancel it and seek other means of solving the problem. Storming the office will not help in anything. Let the two sides solve the matter peacefully without protesting against one another,’ said the Nairobi police boss, Japheth Koome.
