Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua on Friday met members of the county security committee led by the county commissioner Ms Matilda Sakwa.
The meeting deliberated on the rising cases of insecurity the latest being yesterday at Mitaboni where five guards were brutally murdered by a gang.
This resulted to demonstrations by the residents and confrontations with the police with the area Mp, Senator Johnson Muthama and Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala visiting the town.
The governor also asked members of the public to be vigilant and report any cases of insecurity to the police. Mutua also asked politicians to stop exploiting resident's problems for their own gains.
"I wish to appeal to Machakos residents to be on high alert and notify law enforcers about any suspicious persons in their midst. We must be in the forefront in the fight against thuggery and insecurity," Mutua said.
He has called on the youth to stop being used by politicians. Mutua further condoled with the families and wished the injured quick recovery.
Earlier today Mr Peter Mathuki and women rep Dr Susan Musyoka visited the affected families where they called on security to be beefed up in the county.
Members of the security committee present were: Jacinta Wesonga (County Police Commander), Isaack Alima (County AP Commander) and Jonah Kirui (Head of CID).
