Cockroaches are such a nuisance to many households. Given an opportunity, no one would prefer to see these insects in the house. The key prevention strategy is to maintain a high standard of hygiene and aspire to deny them water and food. You will find out that as much as you prevent them you will never miss one or two cockroaches dilly dallying around your house.
Worry not as you can use the fresh smell of lemons, as a bait, as it is often associated with a clean home, and lemon is often used in the world’s most popular household cleaners. There is no denying that lemon juice is a powerful agent that is able to cut through grease and stains, but what many people don’t know is that it can repel roaches, too. The anti-pathogenic properties of lemon and other citrus foods will keep roaches away.
Here are different things you can do with lemon to keep cockroaches out of your home;
1. Add lemon juice (or buy 100% lemon juice) and spray in hard-to-reach areas of the home where you know roaches reside.
2. Grind up lemon peels and place the grounds around the home where cockroaches are present. You’ll need a bucket a rag or a towel.
3. Mix the water and juice together, ensuring that the lemon is not too diluted. Add lemon juice into the bucket first, followed by adding in water slowly to ensure that the lemon smell is still strong
4. Finally, clean everything from the countertops to the floor with the mixture. The goal is to clean all of the surfaces where roaches reside to repel them away. Apart from cleaning this will also give your room a clean, lemon-fresh smell.
