Mr Roba said that many communities live in the region and they are free to compete for elective positions as they can make better leaders.
The governor called for unity among the communities in the county and to work together to improve the county economy and their lives.
“We have many communities living here, including Garre, Degodia, Murale, Marehan and non-locals. They are allowed by the Constitution to vie for any elective seat in the region,” Mr Roba said.
The governor who has been sworn in for a second term has dismissed the rotational leadership that is described as negotiated democracy terming it a thing of the past.
Mr Roba has reiterated that he is not in support of negotiated democracy despite him being a beneficiary of negotiated democracy in 2013 when he was endorsed by the elders.
“Elders in the region play a great role in building the society, but have been passed by time in deciding the political future of the region.”
“We must move forward with the current politics in the country and the world. We put up a spirited campaign to champion our cause and it has yielded fruit,” he said.
