Residents of Lindi village in Kibera have asked water vendors in the slum to supply them with clean water.
The residents on Saturday evening said that they have realised water vendors in the area have been supplying them with dirty water which they use for consumption.
A resident, Geoffrey Morumbwa said since Kibera began facing these water challenges, residents of Lindi have been relying on water vendors who sell water to them though at high prices.
“Water vendors should ensure that the water they are selling is clean because fetching dirty water from water sources and going round Lindi village selling the dirty water will endanger our health,” he said.
Juma Ntabo, another resident said that residents should be keen when purchasing water from vendors to ashame those vendors selling dirty water.
“The problem of water shortage will soon end when the April rains come around. We will have enough water to use. In the meantime, we accept the situation of water shortage but vendors should take responsibility and sell clean water to residents for use,” said Catherine Cheruyot, a resident.
She said landlords and caretakers should learn from this year’s water shortage problem to put more water taps in the residential estates and dig more boreholes that will not dry up to serve the entire Kibera residents at large.
