A Senate Committee on Wednesday suspended a session with Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago after it failed to realise the required quorum.
The Senate Committee Public Accounts and Investment had summoned Mandago to appear before it to explain on the county's spending in the financial year 2013/2014.
However, shortly after Mandago entered the room at Nairobi's parliament buildings flanked by a number of officers led by the CeC in charge of Finance and Planning Shadrack Sambai, the committee's chair Senator Prof Anyang Nyong'o suspended the sitting, saying the required forum had not been met.
"There is always a required number of members who are supposed to sit for this session to start. After reviewing the number, I therefore, remain with no option but to adjourn the session until a latter date," said Prof Nyong'o.
Mandago had previously skipped the Senate summons due to what he later explained that he was on paternity leave, a matter that cropped in during a candid cross-table conversation between Mandago and Nyong'o.
"I completely agree with you that you could not attend this session last time because you were on paternal leave. Children are very important to us, we are fathers and therefore have to celebrate the coming of a new member into family." noted the Kisumu Senator.
