Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka officially opened the Induction Workshop of the Senate Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights on Wednesday.
He noted that the Committee was critical to the success of the Senate and therefore urged Senators to use the three-day workshop to develop its work-plan and prioritize election reforms.
“Each of us has some perception of what its mandate entails. We all need to illuminate and find common clarity; first on its actual mandate, secondly on how to discharge the mandate and thirdly on our respective roles in executing the specified mandate," he said in Malindi.
The Committee is Chaired by Nandi Senator, Samson Cherarkey.
In attendance were Supreme Court Judge, Jackton Ojwang and the Chairperson, Legal Committee of the Council of Governors, Governor (Prof). Kivutha Kibwana.
