The Senate Assembly Speaker Ekwe Ethuro summoned senators for a special sitting on January 5 to debate the contentious amendments to the Election (Amendment) Laws 2016.

In a gazette notice, Ethuro changed the earlier agreed January 4 date, saying the House would only focus on the debate.

He had earlier directed the Senate Legal Affairs Committee chaired by Busia senator Amos Waqo to invite stakeholders and public views on amendments to the law, passed by Jubilee MPs at the National Assembly.
