Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka has reiterated that the Senate will not stop its oversight role by inviting county bosses for grilling by different Senate committees.
Lusaka said the work of the senate is to oversight the county governments and that the Senate will not stop exercising that right.
Speaking during the senate leadership workshop in Nakuru, Lusaka said the county governments must be ready to account for the money given to them by the national government.
“Part of our work is to oversight the county governments and as the Senate we will not stop doing that as much as we want to work together with county governments,” said Lusaka.
He added that the Senate accounts committee will continue inviting county governments to come and account for the monies they have so far received from the national government.
Lusaka said that the Senate will work together with the auditor general to ensure that money given to county governments is utilized appropriately.
