Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong'are has accused legislators allied to the ruling Jubilee Party of prioritising party politics in matters of national interest.
Speaking on Monday, Mong'are accused the lawmakers of failing to uphold the constitution, noting that they are using their tyranny of numbers in both Houses to pass legislations without scrutiny which he claimed had been suggested by the presidency, the Daily Nation has reported.
"This is the reason why we have created mediocrity of people who have been vetted and gone through a parliamentary process. We find there are skeletons in their wardrobes immediately they start working," he said with regards to Parliament's vetting of candidates seeking public office.
"As legislators, we swore to uphold the constitution without fear or favour. But it is unfortunate that Kenyans are being treated to sycophancy to a level that some cannot think on their own," he added.
The Senator launched his presidential bid in December and seeks to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta.
