Senator Billow Kerrow is among leaders from Mandera County, whose names are missing in the IEBC register.
Over 50,000 prospective voters in Mandera risk being locked out of the August polls as their names are not captured in the IEBC database.
Apart from Kerrow, other prominent leaders with missing particulars in the electoral body’s register include gubernatorial aspirant Hassan Noor and nominated MP and Senate hopeful Hassan Osman.
The IEBC is said to have reversed transfers which were made during the last Mass Voter Registration exercise.
Kerrow has protested the development saying the majority of those deleted from the IEBC register come from one clan.
The electoral body said there was a timeline for verifying individual voters’ status and that the complaints were time-barred.
Kerrow and his supporters said they would move to court to bar the IEBC from tampering with the list.
Governor Ali Roba had earlier filed a protest with the IEBC challenging the mass voter transfer accusing the Garre Council of Elders of championing the plot.
Governor Roba after canceling a press conference where he had wanted to issue a statement over the same on Sunday said he would issue a comprehensive account on Monday (June 26).
“We have been meeting and realised we need more time to deliberate,” Roba said as quoted by the Star.
