Nyamira Senator Kennedy Okong’o has told Cord and Jubilee not to hasten the nomination of the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) bosses.
According to Okong’o, if the exercise is hastened, then the country should expect to have new IEBC commissioners who may not be qualified to manage the next general election.
“The nomination of the new IEBC commissioners should not be hastened because we need genuine commissioners who are transparent and accountable to conduct elections in this country,” Okong’o told the press on Monday
“My advice to Cord and Jubilee is that let the exercise take time to have competent commissioners in office but if they hasten the process, then we are going to regret ourselves in future,” he added.
He also said it's better if the elections date is pushed from August 2017 to allow ample time for the appointment of a new IEBC team.
