The Ministry of Interior and National Coordination has been asked to be keen on its work following numerous complaints of swapped names on national identification cards and delays as well.
Speaking in Gilgil constituency on Monday, nominated Senator Martha Wangare said many people have complained about recklessness whereby the names that appear on their IDs are different while some people have waited for more than two years to get their ID cards.
“My appeal is to the ministry to do things right because some people have raised complaints that the names on some of the ID cards are different. You may find that your name is Wanjiru but the ID reads Wambui,” stated Wangare.
The senator also took the ministry to task over the delay in issuance of ID cards saying there are people who applied for the document in 2014 but are yet to be issued to date.
“Some people have been in possession of the waiting cards for the last two years as they await the IDs. Every time they ask, they are told to wait that they will be processed and that is why the Ministry of Interior should rectify and issue IDs faster without the flaws,” she said.
Wangare also urged residents to register as voters so that they can vote in leaders of their choice and those who will listen to their plight.
She has announced that she will be going for the Gilgil seat in 2017.
