A senator wants IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba probed in relation to procurement irregularities at the commission ahead of the August 8 election.
Mutula Kilonzo Jnr on Monday said revelations made by the agency's former commissioner Roslyn Akombe on how Chiloba singly handled procurement issues and how he allegedly planned to favour certain candidates during the August 8 poll clearly shows that the institution should be reconstituted.
"Roselyn Akombe has lifted the lid on Chebukati’s purported leadership as chair of IEBC," Mutula said on Twitter.
"Chiloba was the boss. Removing the chair and the others is not enough. A thorough lifestyle audit of the Chief Executive Officer and the secretariat is necessary," he added.
Akombe on Monday blamed Chiloba's high handedness in leading the IEBC. She claimed Chiloba bulldozed commissioners during critical times when specific decisions were to be made.
"The CEO held us deliberately captive in the procurement of ballot papers. He wanted to buy time in favour of certain candidates," Akombe said.
She said delayed procurement of ballot papers, secretive procurement of technology and deliberate alteration of original forms rendered the August polls null and void.
Akombe also claimed issues related to technology at IEBC were done in secrecy and were only handled by Chiloba.
Chiloba is presently on forced leave.
