Addressing journalists on Monday, the senator said that education is crucial for the actualisation of development goals.

He said that provision of quality and affordable education will equip students with skills needed to curb challenges facing the society.

“The county government should closely work with the national government to boost education standards,” said Wamatangi.

He further called on the national government to avail more bursary funds for bright but needy students.

He added that bursaries have helped many needy students to get education, stating that needy students across Kiambu should apply for the funds.

On the planned teachers strike, Wamatangi asked the government to hold talks with the concerned parties to avert the looming strike.

The senator said that strikes and go-slows are not solutions to the problems facing various professions in the country.

The senate lawmaker said that the senate will formulate laws that will promote the standards of education across the country.
