Taita Taveta senator hopeful Joyce Lay has pleaded with Kenyans not to vote for politicians who have been mentioned or linked to corruption scandals.
According to Lay, it will be disastrous if corrupt leaders find themselves in public office after August 8.
Speaking during campaign rallies in Voi on Tuesday, Lay asked residents to scrutinize aspirants and reject those with tainted or questionable characters.
She said that the country is bleeding from corruption and mismanaged of resources and it will be disastrous if leaders who have no integrity are voted in on August 8.
“Voters have a right to not to vote for leaders who have questionable characters especially on issues of integrity,” she said as quoted by the People Daily.
The senator said that the country will achieve its development agenda if the right leaders are voted in the August 8 polls.
Lay who dumped ODM and joined Jubilee also urged residents to endorse her senatorial bid.
The senator hopeful promised to champion development if elected on August.
“I will push for the welfare of every citizen in the senate and ensure that their living standards are improved,” she said.
Lay promised to lobby the national government to allocate more funds to the county government if she is elected.
The senator hopeful also promised to push for laws that will create jobs and empowerment of marginalized groups.
