Speaking during a rally to sensitise residents about the ongoing mass voter registration, Khaniri said he had decided to join Amani to help Mudavadi work with ODM party leader Raila Odinga under the National Super Alliance (NASA), the Kenya News Agency has reported.

“My main intention was to see these two gentlemen work together. Now that they are united, I have boarded the bus that will ensure we kick out jubilee government under NASA,” said Khaniri during the event held at the municipal grounds in Mbale town on Saturday.

UDF was formerly led by Mudavadi but the former vice president who later abandoned the political outfit saying it lacked a national outlook.

Khaniri, on his part, said he wanted to help Mudavadi, who was recently installed as Luhya community spokesperson, in advocating for Luhya unity and ensuring that the Jubilee government does not get re-elected in the August 8 general election.

“We will work all day and night to ensure that the Jubilee regime, which has impoverished our people and ruined our economy, is sent packing come next elections,” he said.

Khaniri said he would seek re-election under the ANC ticket during the forthcoming polls.

He was received by Amani leader Musalia Mudavadi and deputy leader and former Cherengany MP Kipruto arap Kirwa.
