He said women should visit public health centers to deliver their babies there because delivering at homes is risking their lives.

“To curb maternal deaths, I am urging women to deliver their babies at health facilities across the county,” he noted.

Omogeni said he will not sleep on his oversight job to ensure Governor John Nyagarama’s administration invests more in the health docket.

“Women seeking maternity services at public health centers should get the services for free and medical staff serving them should be qualified for the job.

"I am challenging Governor John Nyagarama and the county MCAs to ensure more money is allocated to the health docket to improve the maternity wards across all the public health centers offering maternity services,” he noted.

He warned hospitals’ management in the region against embezzling funds meant to improve infrastructure at the health centers, purchase treatment equipments and buy more drugs.

“People in charge of hospitals across the county should not divert development funds to their own pockets so that the money can be used to buy more drugs and equip the health facilities for smooth services to be offered,” he said.
