Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo has called for a probe into a firm that is involved in collecting of county revenue.
Senator Dullo said ward reps should probe the deal in which a private company has been collecting revenue on behalf of the county government.
The senator said the company has been collecting revenue in US dollars and sterling pounds and then remits it to the county in shillings.
Ms Dullo accused the private firm of pocketing the difference when the currency fluctuates.
She said the controller of the budget has been complaining that the county has been collecting low revenue claiming the revenue collected in the county could be higher.
The firm was contracted to collect the revenue from the defunct county council.
“The controller of the budget has raised concern over the low revenue collected. Ward reps should probe the company and the revenue being collected,” she said.
The senator further asked MCAs to review the firm’s contract as soon as possible in order to boost county revenue collection for the benefit of residents.
Isiolo Speaker Hussein Roba lauded Senator Dullo for pointing out the issue, saying the county assembly will look into the matter adding that the mentioned firm has been in an unclear working relationship with the previous administration.
