Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua has promised to lobby for more money to be allocated to the county government once he is sworn into the senate.

Wambua, a former Managing Editor of the Standard Newspaper said that the current allocation to the county is not sufficient to push for and realize development agenda.

Addressing supporters in Kitui Town on Monday, the senator said that a huge chunk of the county allocation ends up paying employees salaries with few coins going to development.

He said that the county needs a huge allocation to implement development projects.

“One of my first assignment once sworn into the senate will be to lobby for more funding to be allocated to the Kitui government,” he said as quoted by the People Daily.

The Senator elect also pledged to formulate laws and participate in the senate activities that will better resident’s lives.

Wambua said that he will not be silent as others adding that he will fight fearlessly to ensure his people interests and Kenyans at large are heard.

The former journalist also promised to work closely with governor Charity Ngilu.

“Ngilu is my political mentor and I will work with her to ensure Kitui residents get the best of services despite our different political affiliations,” he said.

Wambua won the senate seat in the recently concluded general election on a Wiper Party ticket.
