Speaking in Garissa town, Haji noted with dissatisfaction that the governor's office has been frustrating service providers and delaying their payments even after the assigned duties have been completed.

"It is very unfortunate to see several hired contractors and business people camping outside the treasury offices asking for their payments months after offering basic services to the county government," Haji stated.

The senator, who was visibly agitated, noted that the rate at which the county government was losing public interest was alarming.

"The county government is not doing its work as expected. I have informed the governor of these and the cries of the citizens, but there is no visible change," he said.

Haji's sentiments are seemingly a show of incompetence by the governor who has been under criticism by several elected leaders.

In June this year, Governor Jama escaped death by a whisker after he was attacked by rowdy youths at Balambala Constituency.
