Garissa Senator Yusuf Haji has urged residents to vet all political aspirants seeking seats in the county before endorsing them.

Haji cautions residents against voting blindly, adding that some aspirants eyeing for political seats have no leadership qualities.

Haji said that the county needs development conscious leaders to push development agenda forward.

The Jubilee senator also advised residents not to be swayed by politicians using propaganda as a campaign tool.

“Let’s be wise and vote in leaders who have the potential and capability of pushing for development,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Senator Haji, who is seeking re-election on JP ticket urged residents to remain united and embrace peace before, during and after the August 8 polls.

He said that Garissa has been mapped out as a possible violence hot spot by the National Commission and Integration Commission (NCIC) hence the need for locals to maintain peace.

On security, Haji called on the national government to beef up surveillance and guarantee locals safety before, during and after the polls.
