Marsabit Senator Abubakar Godana Harugura has pleaded with political aspirants to preach unity as campaigns enters homestretch in readiness for the August 8 general election.

In an interview with the Standard, senator Harugura warned politicians against making statements that could plunge the country into chaos.

The ODM senator said that politicians have a responsibilit to peach unity and peace, adding that those calling for violence should be arrested and arraigned in court.

The senator said that political anxiety is rising  in the county as Kenyans  prepare to vote on August 8.

“Politicians should know their limits and stop making inflammatory remarks that could cause chaos as we head to the general election,” senator Huragura said as quoted by the Standard.

While condemning the violence that erupted during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour of Marsabit on Wednesday, the senator urged the police to investigate and crack the whip on perpetrators.

He said that acts of hooliganism an intolerance has to be condemned in the strongest terms possible if the country to realize peaceful August 8 general election.

The Marsabit senator at the time asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to monitor hate mongers and take action against them.

Senator Haragura appealed to residents and Kenyans at large  to shun hate mongers and instead embrace peace ahead of the next month general election.
