Deputy President William Ruto's decision to skip a fundraiser meeting in Kisumu on Sunday has not gone well with the residents who were left frustrated and irritated by the decision.
Jubilee Party nominated Senator Joy Gwendo who was hosting the function to raise funds for cotton farmers in the area was not only disappointed but criticised the DP for skipping the event.
However, the DP sent Agriculture CS Willy Bet with the donation of Sh1 million for the Cotton Growers Co-operative Society but still, the angry Gwendo was not convinced.
According to the Senator, the area residents expected to see Ruto himself.
"We happily received the contribution, but we are unhappy that he did not attend," said Gwendo.
Defending Ruto's absence, the CS said the DP was held somewhere attending an urgent meeting even as he pleaded with the residents to excuse him (Ruto) for the absence.
He however, assured them that he was always ready to visit the region.
