Kitui senatorial hopeful Enoch Wambua has warned residents against accepting politician’s handouts.
Wambua claims that some political aspirants are allegedly dishing out money to locals in the name of wooing votes.
Addressing supporters at Kitui Town on Sunday, Wambua asked residents to reject politicians who are giving money and material goods in exchange of votes.
The senator hopeful said that it is against the elections laws for aspirants to dish out money.
The former Standard Newspaper Editor said that such politicians have no development agenda for residents and that it will be disastrous if they are elected on August 8.
“These people are dangerous and must be rejected because they will give you (residents) money now but you will never see them once they are elected to office,” he said as quoted by the Standard.
Wambua asked residents to vote for leaders who will bring development.
He observed that the county has not realized the fruits f devolution because of poor leadership at the county level.
The Kitui senator hopeful also asked residents to avoid politicians who preaching propaganda in their campaigns.
He said that propaganda is dangerous and could spark animosity among locals.
Wambua is seeking the senatorial seat on Wiper party ticket. The ex-journalist is battling out with Stephen Kilonzo of Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party.
