Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mong'are has faulted the chaotic Cord anti-IEBC demos in Kisumu and Homa Bay counties in which one person died and scores injured.
Speaking to this writer on the phone on Tuesday morning, Mong'are criticised the demonstrators who on Monday took advantage of the protests to loot and destroy people’s property.
“It is wrong for some goons to take advantage of the ongoing anti-IEBC demos to loot property from businesses as it was witnessed yesterday in Kisumu," said Mong'are.
The Senator said if the chaos continue to turn chaotic in future, they risk scaring away investors from the towns to other regions.
“If future anti-IEBC demos will be chaotic, then be assured that investors who have invested heavily in major towns will close shop a move that will result in job losses thereby affecting the economy. I am urging the government to hold talks with Cord to end the standoff,” he added.
He urged the government and the opposition to dialogue and resolve the stalemate.
