A senator has given Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka a 30-day ultimatum to take oath as the people's deputy president or forget prospects of becoming president in 2022.
Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala on Thursday told the former vice president that Kenyans are increasingly becoming impatient with his delayed inauguration which has been skipped twice.Kalonzo was expected to take oath as opposition leader Raila Odinga's deputy at Uhuru Park on January 30 but skipped the event fearing for his safety as the government had withdrawn his security ahead of the event. His party later announced he will be inaugurated on February 28 but the event never came to pass."We are giving Kalonzo 30 days to be sworn-in," Malala said at a rally attended by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi in Saboti."If he is not ready he should be frank to say so. We are tired of waiting," he added.Amisi had earlier on said that if the former Mwingi North MP fails to lift the Bible and take oath as Raila's deputy, he will convene a rally and take oath as the people's deputy president.Kalonzo has continuously been criticised within the NASA circles for failing to take the oath.
