The National Alliance party nominated Senator Joy Gwendo has declared interest in vying for the Kisumu East parliamentary seat on a TNA ticket in 2017.
The lawmaker said her opponents should be prepared for a tough duel and promised to give them a run for their money.
She said she is going to seat down to put her campaign strategies in place ready for the the contest that is expected to generate too much steam.
"I am putting my strategies for campaigns in place. I am ready to beat them by a landslide," she said during the burial of Aloyce Mundu in Kadiju village in Kisumu East constituency on Saturday.
Ms Gwendo joins a crowded race for the seat where the incumbent, Shakeel Shabbir is expected to defend his seat owing to the fact he is a loyal ODM member, a party that enjoys a huge following in the area.
Others who have declared interest for the seat include businessman John Anditi, former Kenya Sugar Board Director Nicholas Oricho and Engineer Job Ndege.
However, it is Senator Gwendo's entry into the race that has elicited mixed reactions as some people question her wisdom in choosing the party.
They say vying for the seat on a TNA ticket in an opposition zone is a ticket to lose.
