Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi has said that Governor William Kabogo’s embarrassing and humiliating loss in the Jubilee Party (JP) nominations was foreseen a long time ago.

Speaking on Citizen TV’s Power Breakfast Show on Thursday, Wamatangi said that Kabogo’s defeat was not a surprise.

The Kiambu senator who has been having frosty relationship with Kabogo’s administration for the last four years said that the governor created his own downfall.

The senator claimed that Kabogo allegedly ignored local’s interests in policy formulation.

“Kabogo created his own downfall from the moment he started sidelining Kiambu people,” the senator said during the interview.

Wamatangi said that the fall of big names in Kiambu and other parts of the country is a wake call to politicians who only serve their interests.

The senator who has won re-election ticket said that most elected leaders have no option but to champion devolution or they be kicked out through the ballot.

“Kenyans are frustrated with mediocre leadership and will not hesitate to kick out such leadership,” he added.

Big political names are being floored in the ongoing party nominations across the political divide.

On Tuesday Governor Kabogo conceded defeat to his challenger Ferdinand Waititu. He garnered 353,604 votes against Kabogo’s 69,916.

Kabogo’s humiliating defeat has surprised many including political analysts who had expected him to trounce Waititu and clinch the JP ticket.

The Kiambu governor claimed that the nomination was nit free and fair alleging that some unnamed powerful officials in Jubilee did not want him to be governor.President Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece Ann Nyokabi who is the current Kiambu Woman Representative also lost in JP nominations.Nyokabi lost to former radio journalist Gathoni Wa Muchomba.Five MPs in President Kenyatta’s home turf also lost their re-election bid in the JP nominations.
