Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo jr made a shocking claim on Wednesday during the grilling of the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji by a parliamentary committee.
The senator told the DPP that there were serious gaps in the investigations and that those gaps were deliberate in order to set them for failure.
''I am persuaded that you actually do not need the EACC to successfully prosecute corruption in Kenya. These gaps are deliberate,'' Senator Mutula said.
Mutula's words come amid investigations into the shocking loss of 9 billion shillings in the National Youth Service coffers.
The DPP assured the concerned legislator that he would make sure that the corruption cases are successfully prosecuted.
NYS suspects are currently being held behind bars as investigations unfold.
