Outspoken Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala made shocking claims on Saturday while weighing in on the National Youth Service (NYS) multi-billion scandal that has shocked Kenyans.
The Deputy Leader of the Minority in the Senate said that there was a sinister ploy by investigative agencies to hide documents critical to investigations into the scam with a view of derailing them.
''There is also a ploy by investigating agencies to derail fraud investigations at NYS by withholding crucial documents to erase the money trail. We urge the new DCI to unravel the racket that is swindling public funds every minute,'' Senator Malala said.
Mr Malala spoke in the buildings of parliament while reading a written statement.
He said that those behind the multi-billion scandals ought to be revealed and brought to justice.
His words come in the context of growing public concern over the misappropriation and embezzlement of funds at the National Youth Service and the National Cereals and Produce Board.
Other leaders including Deputy President William Ruto have weighed in on the scandals and called for stern action to be taken against the culprits.
