Nominated Senator Emma Mbura has urged politicians to conduct peaceful campaigns as they drum up support for the August 8 polls.
Mbura has also cautioned politicians against making reckless remarks that could cause animosity among Kenyans.In an interview with The Star, Mbura said political aspirants have a duty of rallying their supporters to maintain peace and unity.She said the country needs to remain united for a peaceful general election.“I want to challenge politicians eying various seats to come together and champion for unity despite our different political ideologies,” said Mbura, as quoted by The Star.Mbura at the same time appealed to the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to be on the lookout and take action against perpetrators of violence and hate speech.She said the commission has been well funded to curb hate mongering especially during the campaign period.Mbura urged Kenyans to remain peaceful and support leaders who will push for development, adding that the mwananchi have an opportunity to endorse leaders who will fight for their interests.Senator Mbura is seeking the Rabai Parliamentary seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) Party.
