Nyamira Coutny senator Okong’o Omogeni has asked residents to give their views on the national government’s budget this year.
Omogeni stated that residents have rights to say how the money in the 2018/2019 budget should be utilized.
“Residents should turn out in large numbers to give their views about the budget which is yet to be tabled at the national assembly so that they can give their priority on how the government can spend money which comes from them through taxes,” he said.
He said public participation over the same will be held at Gesima today Tuesday.
The senator said locals will also be sensitized on the government expenditure so that they can know how their taxes are being used by the national government.
“During the public participation forum, residents will get to learn how government spends their taxes annually. Residents will also get to know how much money the county government receives from the national government to fund development projects in the county,” he added.
He urged local chiefs to mobilize locals to turn out in large numbers to attend public forums.
